Rustic Furniture that Reimagines a Classic

Few ranch furniture pieces have more fond memories attached than the rocking chair; grandma and grandpa swaying away their golden years on the front porch, Mom soothing baby to sleep, a nap beneath a homemade quilt. As timeless as rocking chairs can be, they are a classic ready for an upgrade.

Goodbye rocking and hello gliding! The Mission Style gliding rocker combines the rustic appeal of an olden days wooden rocking chair with cutting-edge long-glide technology. Relax smooth and squeak free atop all-steel encased ball bearings and specially engineered lubricants. You won't believe the comfort!

Cabin Projects for the Whole Family

Have you been looking for new ways to fix-up your cabin? Looking for projects to stave off summer boredom in the kids? Here are some fun do it yourself decorating ideas for the whole family.

Pebble Foot Mat
Get the feel of stone underfoot without scattering the pebbles around. You can even add a polyurethane gloss to give your mat a fresh from the river look. All you'll need to complete your project is a grippy rubber mat and an assortment of rocks, purchased or collected. One Pretty Thing offers step-by-step instructions plus advice for making your mat weatherproof.

Wine Bottle Border
How long it takes to prep for this one depends on whether you "collect" the bottles yourself or hit the recycling bins for treasure. Once you have the core materials you'll need to get your hands on a trowel and a padded kneeler. Douglas Welch the author of A Gardener's Notebook blog put together a great YouTube tutorial that will take you through the process.

You don't have to be the outdoorsy type to enjoy the outdoorsy look. If you would prefer not to get your hands dirty check out our Accessories and Accents collection.

A Home Office Can Be Rustic Too

Since you are here reading this blog we'll go out on a limb and guess that you hate modern office furniture; black faux leather chairs, glass desks with brushed steel legs, a pendulum clacking away on the desk--all the warmth of an icebox. Just because big office supply stores specialize in that stuff doesn't mean that you are stuck with an office that is more burr that beautiful.

A desk: the center piece of any office
You want a desk that will last not a Swedish click-together piece. We suggest our Blue Mesa desk, designed to weather years of successful business and blend with the ranch furniture adorning the rest of your home. Its a mix of new and old, mission style with a felt lined tray, two outlet power strip and ball bearing extension guides for easy open and close drawers.

Brawny and Beautiful
The Blue Mesa is made from a beautifully finished oak veneer over high quality hardwood. And the surface of the desk is detailed with a stand out slate tile inlay. While you are looking down on all the beauty and working hard you'll need a nice place to sit--a matching, ergonomic office chair for instance.
